Nene Royal’s Road to AGT Gold Runs Through Smoke, Screams and Guitar Solos

0:00/0:00

She arrived from Phuket with her father and a guitar. Watch Nene Royal turn a nervous introduction into a Golden Buzzer performance, a tearful win and a studio session with The Warning.

Nene Royal’s father is crying backstage before the judges have finished assessing her first audition. He had waved excitedly when she introduced him. Now he covers his face. Onstage, the daughter who said she was nervous has been headbanging, screaming into a microphone and playing electric guitar hard enough to leave audience members clutching their faces.

The video, titled America’s Got Talent 2026 WINNER Nene Royal — All Performances!, follows that opening audition through callbacks, a Golden Buzzer, the final and a winner’s collapse into tears. It then carries on into a studio session with rock band The Warning. Across those settings, Nene keeps returning to the same combination: controlled vocals, forceful guitar playing and a physical commitment that makes even a small stage feel crowded.

A birthday, a guitar and her father backstage

At her introduction, Nene says she is from Phuket, Thailand, and is 15 years old. Her sixteenth birthday is the next day. She has played guitar since she was seven, and her ambition is specific: she wants to become a superstar and tour.

She has never performed on a stage like this. Asked about nerves, she answers, “I’m very nervous a little bit,” then explains that appearing on AGT is her dream. Her father has come with her. “He’s very supporting me,” she says.

Once she starts playing, she drops into a heavy rock stance, swings her long dark hair and screams into the mic. The audience’s reactions make sense alongside that brief introduction. They have had less than a minute to get to know a soft-spoken teenager before watching her throw herself into a rock performance.

The judges hear technique beneath the force. One praises her vocal control and guitar playing. Howie Mandel tells her, “You are a rock star, young lady.” Simon focuses on her tone and calls her voice “authentic.” He also likes that the performance is “all a bit messy.” For him, the rough edges make the audition better.

She leaves with four yeses. The judges have given her permission to keep the unruly parts of her performance, even as the next round asks her to become more deliberate about them.

Howie asks her to find the moments

During the callbacks section, Nene describes her parents’ earlier doubts about a music career. They had suggested business. After AGT, she says, they told her they were proud of her. Her father’s reaction at the audition gives that account a face.

In a rehearsal room, Howie moves quickly from encouragement to instruction. “I wanna put you in because I think you could win it,” he tells her. He identifies showmanship as the skill that will carry her into the next round.

“So I want you to find moments where the audience is just gonna scream.”

That advice gives her a task beyond playing well. She needs to shape a performance around moments an audience can respond to together. At the Laugh Factory, on a much more intimate stage, she bends backward over her guitar and whips her head through a solo. She has fewer feet of stage to cover, yet she holds nothing back.

Asked afterward what she is thinking, Nene answers, “I think I play perfect.” The response is immediate: “We agree.” After the hesitant introduction at her audition, she now sounds pleased with the work she has done.

She also explains what has changed. Having so many people in front of her makes her more confident and gives her more energy. A judge says she looks as though she is having more fun. Another promises to buy a ticket to her show whether she advances or not. They are beginning to talk about seeing her outside the competition.

Mel B makes room for rock

For the quarterfinal, Nene gets a red-lit stage covered in smoke. Fireballs erupt behind her as she screams. The production is larger, but she continues to give the audience the same things they responded to at the audition: her voice, her guitar and the sight of her putting her whole body into both.

Afterward comes a demand directed at the broadcaster: “NBC, give her the million right now.” Sofia Vergara says Nene could win because she can sing and play guitar. She adds that people in the street have been asking her about the young performer.

Mel B takes longer to explain her response. She has met Nene backstage, where she found her quiet, humble and sweet. Onstage, she says, Nene has a different presence. Mel B also admits that her own tastes run toward pop: “I’m a nineties girl.” This kind of music is not her usual choice.

Still, she praises Nene’s vocals, guitar, look and energy. “How could I not do this?” she asks. She rises and hits the Golden Buzzer with Sofia beside her.

Nene falls to her knees and sobs beneath the gold confetti. Her father rushes out and wraps her in an embrace. At the audition, he had watched from backstage with his hands over his face. This time, he can reach her.

The final gives her more stage to fill

Nene begins the final performance on a dark stage under white spotlights. Later, sparks fall from above and flames flare across the back wall. Dense columns of white smoke shoot upward around her as she finishes her solo.

With so much happening around her, the guitar remains a focus of the judges’ praise. From the audition onward, they have treated her singing and playing as two skills strong enough to justify watching her. The final gives her room to combine them with the showmanship Howie requested in rehearsal.

Mel B says she is glad she pressed her golden button. She praises Nene’s stage presence, notes that she is only 16 and jokes that she will sell Howie’s new house if Nene does not win. Sofia tells her the rock world cannot get enough of her.

When asked whether her childhood dream is coming true, Nene returns to picking up the guitar at seven. She remembers wanting to become a rock star and says that reaching the final feels like that wish becoming real. Her answer ends with a declaration she can now make after several rounds of evidence: “I’m a rock star.”

After the million-dollar announcement

The results show includes another performance under blue arena lights before the final decision. Then the host narrows the night to its remaining stakes: “Two acts, $1,000,000, one winner.”

When Nene is named the winner, she collapses onto the floor in tears. Gold confetti falls across the auditorium, and fireworks shoot from the stage corners. After all the fierce movement of her performances, she can barely stay on her feet for the result.

The video continues beyond the celebration. In a studio with The Warning, Nene plays among other musicians. They headbang together over guitars and drums, then stop, laugh and celebrate. Without the judges’ desk or a vote to wait for, she gets to share the pleasure of playing with a band.

Watch the full video to follow how Nene responds to each new setting, from the Laugh Factory’s close quarters to the final’s smoke and flames. Stay for the studio session with The Warning, where the musicians finish playing and begin laughing together.
