"Seinfeld" premiered on NBC on July 5, 1989, under the title "The Seinfeld Chronicles." It went on to run nine seasons and 180 episodes before its finale on May 14, 1998. Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld created the show, which made a coffee shop booth and a Manhattan apartment familiar to millions of viewers. The actors who played Jerry, George, Elaine, Kramer and the colorful neighbors and relatives around them have kept working for decades since, with Broadway stages, Marvel films, Disney animation and bestselling books among their later credits.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus
Julia Louis-Dreyfus played Elaine Benes on "Seinfeld" from 1990 to 1998 and won the 1996 Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for the role. She won a lead actress Emmy in 2006 for "The New Adventures of Old Christine." From 2012 to 2019 she played Selina Meyer on HBO's "Veep," which brought her six more lead actress Emmys. She received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2018 and the National Medal of Arts in 2021. Since 2021 she has played Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in Marvel projects, including "Thunderbolts*" (2025). In 2023 she launched the podcast "Wiser Than Me." This fall she made her Broadway debut as Polly Wyeth in a revival of "Other Desert Cities" at the Hudson Theatre, with Allison Janney and Ed Harris in the cast. Previews began September 29, 2026.
Patrick Warburton
Patrick Warburton played David Puddy, Elaine's deadpan, on-again, off-again boyfriend, in 10 "Seinfeld" episodes from 1995 to 1998. His deep voice became one of the best known in animation. He voiced Kronk in Disney's "The Emperor's New Groove" (2000) and Brock Samson in "The Venture Bros.," and he has voiced Joe Swanson on "Family Guy" since 1999. On screen, he starred in "The Tick" (2001–2002), played Jeff Bingham in 100 episodes of "Rules of Engagement" (2007–2013) and played Lemony Snicket in Netflix's "A Series of Unfortunate Events" (2017–2019). He voiced Mayor Brian Winddancer, a horse who was once an action star, in Disney's "Zootopia 2," which opened in US theaters on November 26, 2025. In December 2025 he released a stand-up special, "Still Catholic."
Jason Alexander
Jason Alexander played George Costanza on "Seinfeld" throughout its run. He also directed the 1992 episode "The Good Samaritan." He arrived already a Broadway star: he won the 1989 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for "Jerome Robbins' Broadway." His film roles include the lawyer Philip Stuckey in "Pretty Woman" (1990), and he voiced Hugo the gargoyle in Disney's "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" (1996). In 2015 he replaced Larry David as the lead in Broadway's "Fish in the Dark." He made his Broadway directing debut with Sandy Rustin's comedy "The Cottage," which opened July 24, 2023. In 2024 he played Tevye in "Fiddler on the Roof" at La Mirada Theatre in California. He appeared in the 2025 film "The Electric State."
Jerry Seinfeld
Jerry Seinfeld co-created "Seinfeld" with Larry David and starred as a fictionalized version of himself, a stand-up comic living in Manhattan. After the series ended, he co-wrote and produced the DreamWorks animated film "Bee Movie" (2007) and voiced its lead character, Barry B. Benson. His web series "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" ran from 2012 to 2019, later moved to Netflix and earned five Primetime Emmy nominations. On May 5, 2020, Netflix released "23 Hours to Kill," his first original stand-up special in 22 years. That October he published "Is This Anything?", a collection of material from his decades in comedy. He made his feature directing debut with "Unfrosted," a comedy about the creation of Pop-Tarts that premiered on Netflix on May 3, 2024. He co-wrote, produced and starred in the film.
